We’ve been AdWorded

Hmm. This is interesting. blist only launched in beta 2 weeks ago, but others are buying our trademarked name in Google AdWords. I’m not sure how to interpret it.

You can request to Google to consider blist a registered trademark and no one, except by blist, will be able to bid on that keyword. Since blist is quite a unique name it won’t be too hard to prove you own pretty much all definitions of it. Unless, blist means something else, then it might be harder.

I don’t know how you go about contacting Google, but I would search for “trademark infringement in adwords” and see what you come up with.

Google allows bidding on a trademark term, as far as the trademark term itself does not appear in the ad. This is true even if you inform Google that you hold the trademark for the term that being bid on.

It appears Caspio is keeping a close eye on Blist, given that they are bidding on ‘blist’ even before you are out of beta!

It must be the beginning of the Blist Bubble!

Just kidding. I’d interpret it as a positive unless you were trying to fly under the radar.

But I’d keep an eye on those guys.

Something to say?
